LONDON, Jan. 11 () -- Stephen Hendry suffered a bitter loss in his first match at the Wembley Masters Snooker as the seven-time world champion were defeated by world No. 3 Shaun Murphy 6-4.     Hendry, turning 41 on Wednesday, showed his charm in the sport with two centuries and fought back calmly in the ninth frame while he trailed in 5-3. However, the undoubtable king of snooker in 1990s missed the green ball which led to the defeat of him in the tenth frame.     "There are no excuses for missing that green, said a depressed Hendry at the after-match press conference. "I played ok, but to lose because of that miss is hard to take, because Shaun was getting nervous. It's frustrating because when I play well, the other guy seems to play well too."     Hendry and his 27-year-old rival tied 2-2 after the first four frames with Hendry made a 114 break in the second frame. Then, Murphy put himself ahead by winning the next two frames in 66-27, 81-0. Although Kendry managed to finish the seventh frame with a 104 break, Murphy enlarged the gap again with a break of 106.     Hendry kept his sharpness in the ninth frame but missed the green ball in the key moment which became the turning point of the final frame.     Hendry has gone nearly five years without winning a major tournament and dropped out of the top eight of the world rankings for the first time since 1988 at the end of the 2008-2009 season.     But Murphy believed that the majority of the crowd were supporting Hendry because "Now he's a legend".     "Any match against Stephen is a major event so I'm delighted to win. It was a high standard with big breaks and good safety," said the three-time world champion, who is going to encounter the winner between Ali Carter and Mark Williams in the quarterfinals.     Before Hendry stopped his trip at the Masters, his friend Mark Williams proved that his tough journey from Wales was worthy as he beat wild card player Rory McLeod 6-2 to book an encounter against Ali Carter in the last 16.     "My sponsor gave me a 4x4 (jeep) to allow me to get to practice and get over here. It's awful back at home, even now there's over two foot of snow," said the Welshman who won this tournament twice.     In the evening match, Stephen Maguire saw off Mark King 6-3. Maguire is going to play the quarterfinal against Ryan Day or Joe Perry.
JERUSALEM, July 9 () -- The Israeli Justice Ministry wants to criminalize international wire transfers by infiltrators, in a bid to deter them from seeking work in Israel. The bill calls for six-month imprisonment or a 30,000 shekel fine (around 7,500 U.S. dollars) for lawbreakers, which the ministry stressed was meant against illegal infiltrators, and not refugees. The bill amendment is still due to be approved by the Ministerial Committee on Legislative Affairs and then by the Knesset (parliament).Natalja, an Eritrean refugee, said that the new amendment will put her and her family in an impossible situation."My parents and brother are still there, and my father isn't well. I try to help with whatever I can by sending them money. Now, if this bill passes, what am I going to do?" she said."I think they're using whatever tactics they can to get us to leave. My family needs this money and I don't know what I'm going to do. My family and other people's families need to survive," she added.Sigal Rozen, director of the Tel-Aviv-based Hotline for Foreign Workers, told  Monday that the amendment puts some of the refugees between a rock and a hard place."A lot of asylum seekers are kidnapped in the Egyptian border with Israel in the Sinai peninsula by Bedouin smugglers. They are required to pay a heavy ransom to break free -- sometimes tens of thousands of dollars. Their relatives help them and then they have to wire money back to them, so they can survive," she said."Israel is putting more and more obstacles before refugees, in hopes they will all leave on their own behalf," she said. "But where can they go to?" Rozen added. "A lot of these asylum seekers are supporting their families. Some of those families they have back home are on the brink of starvation."Ministry sources told the Ynet news site on Sunday that the proposed legislation is meant to combat financial incentives for undocumented migrants to enter the country illegally, as it is believed that most infiltrators migrate to Israel to work and send the money to their families.According to a ministry statement, "reducing the economic incentive is an effective tool to deal with the phenomenon of infiltration. In recent years, the State of Israel has been dealing with a wave of infiltrators from Africa, who amount to more than 60,000.""Restricting infiltrators from wiring money balances Israel's right to protect itself from the growing phenomenon of infiltration while respecting human rights. Upon departure, the infiltrators can take what they've earned," the statement reads.Population and Immigration authority (PIBA) estimates that there are around 50,000 infiltrators in Israel, hailing from a number of African states, among them Eritrea, Sudan and elsewhere. In recent weeks, more than 300 African asylum seekers were detained by authorities and put in detention facilities. Nearly 300 South Sudanese migrants were deported from Israel, within the operation "Going Back Home" which is set to repatriate 1,000 Sudanese migrants.Over 129 migrants were arrested over the past week, and moved to a holding facility as part of the crackdown on illegal immigration, local news outlets reported Sunday. A total of 928 illegal immigrants were detained in June and 2,031 in May, according to PIBA figures. At Sunday's weekly cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is committed to preserving the dignity of repatriated African migrants and said the immigration authority works to limit and end the flood of asylum seekers approaching Israel."The infiltrators come here to work. If there will not be work for them here there'll be no reason to come," he said during the meeting. He added that work on a hi-tech fence along the 240 km border with Egypt would be accelerated and hopefully finished by October.
