DUBAI, June 4 () -- Global risk factors might dampen the real GDP growth of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to three percent in 2012, more than one percent lower than that of 2011, UAE minister of economy said Monday. The Gulf state's real GDP registered a growth of 4.2 percent in 2011, returning to the pre-crisis level of 2008 for the first time, according to Minister of Economy Sultan al-Mansouri.Speaking at a news conference, Sultan al-Mansouri said "the euro zone debt crisis and a possible slowdown in China have certainly an impact on the UAE's trade relations with these parties and its growth."UAE real GDP in 2011 reached 981.7 billion Dirham (267.71 billion U.S. dollars), up from 942.4 billion Dirham (256.99 billion dollars). The main drivers behind the increase were a strong rebound of the energy sector due to high oil prices, improved terms of trade and logistics, and growth in the travel and tourism sector.Regarding ongoing negative spillover effects from the euro zone, in case the debt crisis in Greece and Spain escalates, he said that the developments are really negative for the whole world economy, adding that every crisis harbors a chance. The minister said that, in order to reduce negative spillover effects, China and the UAE follow the same strategy to reach out to new markets which achieve positive growth rates this year."China is the UAE's second largest trade partner after India, and Beijing is increasingly opening new trade routes to emerging markets in Africa and Latin America. As a growing volume of re- export business to China is done through the UAE, which also increases its trade relations with new partners in the emerging world," he said."We are confident that this strategy can mitigate negative spillover effects from countries with negative growth rates,"
